Valeria Pelka

Valeria Pelka began her musical journey as a guitarist in popular music, graduating from the Popular Music School of the Argentine Musicians’ Union (SADeM). In 2009, she expanded her horizons into composition and production with her debut album, El tiempo borrará, showcasing her multifaceted skills as a composer, vocalist, and arranger.

Driven by a deep affinity for orchestral language, Pelka earned a Bachelor’s degree in Composition from the National University of the Arts (UNA) and an Associate Degree in Orchestral Conducting. Her academic foundation was shaped by esteemed mentors including Fernando Albinarrate, Pablo Freiberg, Guillermo Pozzati, Guillermo Zalcman, and Ariel Pirotti, among other renowned figures in the field.

With over 35 years of experience across diverse genres, Pelka’s work serves as a bridge between the popular and the academic. Her compositions—often inspired by South American rhythms—strive to push musical languages beyond traditional boundaries, fusing Argentine traditions with global contemporary influences.

In recent years, Pelka’s works have been premiered internationally across the United States, Spain, Russia, and Argentina. Her orchestral piece, Dársena Sur, received prestigious recognition at the 2023 “Marta Lambertini” Provincial Competition for Symphony Orchestra. Beyond composition, she has contributed her expertise as a jury member for the “New Music” International Composition Competition in St. Petersburg and the GSYO Emerging Composers’ Competition in Palo Alto, California.

A dedicated educator, Pelka has spent over three decades sharing her passion for music. Today, she leads a thriving online studio, mentoring students in composition, harmony, and orchestration across the Americas and Europe.
